Bluffton gunman hit with hot chocolate, steals phone, $5,000
A Bluffton woman was robbed at gunpoint in her driveway Friday of more than $5,000 by a man she attempted to fight off with a donut shop paper cup.
The woman called authorities just after the incident at her Shady Pine Lane home, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office report.
As she pulled into her driveway, the woman, who had just withdrawn the money from a nearby bank, said she was approached by a black male around 6-feet tall wearing a red shirt, bandana, and "medical gloves," the report said.
The man pointed a gun at her, the report said. The woman then hit him with a paper cup of hot chocolate from Dunkin Donuts in an attempt drive him away , the report said.
Despite her efforts, the suspect got away with the money and the woman's cell phone.
The suspect remains at large, the report said.
