Bluffton bus monitor charged with unlawful conduct toward child fired
On Feb. 17, Durham School Services bus monitor Lillian Jackson was charged with unlawful conduct toward a child after she allegedly struck a 4-year-old special-needs boy in the face Feb. 12.
Jackson, 61, of Seabrook, was a monitor on a special-needs bus for Bluffton Elementary School.
After being placed on leave, Jackson was terminated by Durham, which is contracted to run the school district's buses, company spokeswoman Molly Hart said Wednesday. Bluffton police are still investigating an accusation in September that Jackson forced the boy to cover his mouth when he coughed and left bruises on his wrists, Maj. Joe Manning said.
