Bluffton man arrested on drug charges

A Bluffton man was arrested on drug charges after being pulled over Saturday, according to the Bluffton Police Department.

Officers were responding to a report of an intoxicated driver near Goethe Road at about 10:15 p.m., spokesman Maj. Joseph Manning said. John Anthony Kinlaw, 27, was then pulled over on May River Road near Shultz Park for driving on a flat tire, Manning said.

Officers found an open beer in the car; he also had a suspended license and warrant for his arrest issued in Hardeeville, Manning said.

During a search of the vehicle, officers found 9.2 grams of marijuana, 3.2 grams of crack cocaine, 29 Alprazolam pills and 10 Xanax pills, Manning said.

Kinlaw was charged with possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of schedule IV drugs with intent to distribute, driving under suspension, simple possession of marijuana and open container.

Kinlaw was being held Monday at the Beaufort County Detention Center with bail set at $21,934, according to the jail log.
