Three people were displaced and four dogs were rescued Friday afternoon after a cooking incident sparked a house fire in northern Beaufort County.

Just before 3 p.m. Friday, emergency crews responded to reports of a house fire on Carolina Avenue in the Grays Hill area of Beaufort.

Firefighters arrived to find smoke coming from a single-story home. They quickly confined the flames to the kitchen area, according to a release from the Burton Fire District. They determined the cause of the fire was cooking.

Firefighters rescued four dogs from the home. No one was injured in the fire, but three adults who lived in the home have been displaced. The Red Cross is assisting this family, according to the fire district.
