Woman walks to fire station for help after being shot, Beaufort Co. deputies say
Deputies are investigating a shooting early Saturday morning that injured a 31-year-old woman, prompting her to walk to a nearby fire station for help, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.
Police received multiple reports of gunfire around 2:40 a.m. from the area of Conestoga Loop in Grays Hill, located just north of the Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort.
After arriving to the scene, deputies learned a gunshot victim had walked to the nearby Burton Fire District station about a half-mile away. EMS crews took the woman to the hospital, according to the sheriff’s office alert sent Saturday morning.
Sheriff’s office spokesperson Lt. Daniel Allen would not elaborate on the circumstances behind the incident but said the shooting was not a drive-by. He did not have an update on the woman’s condition.
Police had not publicly identified any suspects as of Monday afternoon.
