One person was killed Saturday afternoon in a crash in Bluffton after a vehicle left the roadway and a second vehicle struck an ejected driver, according to officials with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Troopers said a Ford Mustang was traveling east on Bluffton Parkway when it left the roadway, struck the median and then struck a tree around 12:49 p.m. near Soperton Drive.

The driver was ejected from the car into the westbound lanes of the parkway, and an oncoming Genesis SUV struck the ejected driver, who sustained fatal injuries.

No other injuries were reported by state troopers.

The name of the deceased has not yet been released by the Beaufort County Coroner. The crash remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
