Beaufort man sentenced to 15 years for sexually assaulting a young teenager
A Beaufort man was sentenced to 15 years in prison after admitting to having sex with a young teenager at a Port Royal motel, according to the Fourteenth Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
Nicholas Antonette Todd, 42, pleaded guilty on Wednesday to second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor and to contributing to a minor’s delinquency.
Todd’s cash bond was set at $105,000, according to court documents. He also must register as a sex offender. He lived on Elizabeth Lane in the Mossy Oaks area, according to prosecutors. Circuit Court Judge Carmen Mullen handed down the sentence.
On Jan. 10, Port Royal police was called to the Super 8 Motel on Ribault Road after a motel employee saw a teenage girl with an unknown man, according to prosecutors and the solicitor's office.
The 13-year-old had gone into the lobby where she was noticed by a motel staff member as matching the description of a missing teenager, according to the solicitor’s office.
Officers found the teenager in a room with Todd. She had marks on her neck she said were from him. Todd admitted to having sex with the girl “multiple times” after picking her up the day before when she had asked for a ride to her grandparent’s house in Walterboro, according to prosecutors.
