Autopsy ordered after missing man found dead in Beaufort County

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday afternoon after a 79-year-old missing man was found dead in northern Beaufort County.

The search for Lobeco resident Isaac Bussey Sr. was suspended Saturday evening with the discovery of remains believed to be his, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.

Officials have confirmed the remains belong to Bussey, Deputy Coroner Shane Bowers said on Monday.

Bussey was reported “missing and endangered” Friday night after he left home to go shrimping. His relatives had not heard from him since 3 p.m. that day and his last known location was Old Rail Bed Road in Lobeco, police said.

The findings of Bussey’s autopsy would be released Tuesday, according to Bowers.

Bussey’s obituary said he died on Friday. Arrangements by Marshel’s Wright-Donaldson Home For Funerals had yet been published.

Isaac Bussey Sr., 79, of Lobeco, was found dead about a day after he was reported missing by relatives.
