A woman on Hilton Head Island was injured in an ATV accident Wednesday, according to a social media post and the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.

Christian Powers, an admin of the Facebook group “We ❤️ Hilton Head Island” posted Thursday evening that his daughter, Ashley Powers was “involved in a serious ATV accident on Hilton Head Island last night along with a friend of hers.”

Mrs. Powers, who is married with a 3 1/2-month-old son, sustained a broken collarbone, a collapsed lung, broken scapula bones, multiple spinal column fractures, rib fractures, a lacerated spleen, and a fractured fibula, according to the post.

Mrs. Powers was flown to Savannah Memorial Hospital for severe trauma. Her friend sustained a broken nose but is recovering and has been discharged, and the driver sustained “no serious injuries,” according to the Facebook post.

In the comments to the post, Powers wrote that the incident occurred on a “public walking path on the south end of Hilton Head Island.”

The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that a collision occurred on Hilton Head involving an ATV on Wednesday but was unable to confirm any other information at this time. An official report of the incident will be released to the media Saturday morning.
