Two adults, 3 minors charged after armed robbery at Parker’s gas station in Bluffton
Two young adults and three juveniles were arrested in a traffic stop late last week after an armed robbery at a Parker’s convenience store in Bluffton.
Al’Layjiah Alexis Ky’Meir Shiggs, 19, of Beaufort, was charged with armed robbery and a felony firearms offense. Armed with a handgun, she stole a “minimal amount of money” from the Parker’s location at 469 Buckwalter Parkway the night of Oct. 3, the Bluffton Police Department alleged.
Za’Nya Re’Arjah Pierce, 18, of Burton, was charged as an accessory before the fact to a felony for allegedly driving the suspect to and from the scene and watching the armed robbery occur.
The three minors were not charged in connection with the robbery, police said. Because officers found an open container of Lunazul Tequila under the driver’s seat, they were petitioned to Family Court for possessing or consuming alcohol under the age of 21.
Beaufort County deputies pulled over the vehicle just before 11 p.m. near the intersection of S.C. 170 and Argent Boulevard after an automated license plate reader identified it as being involved in the robbery less than 30 minutes earlier. Officers found a firearm in the passenger-side glovebox, according to a sheriff’s office incident report.
Shiggs and Pierce were issued citations for underage possession of alcohol and driving with the tequila bottle’s seal open, the report says. Shiggs received an additional citation for possession of marijuana.
Both adult suspects were booked in the Beaufort County jail around 9 p.m. Oct. 4 after a brief time in custody at the Bluffton Police Department.
Pierce was released the following morning on a $10,000 surety bond, while Shiggs remained in jail as of noon Friday on bonds totaling $85,000, according to inmate rosters.
