Shooter targets Beaufort Co. home with 10 people, infant inside. Police seek info
Sheriff’s deputies are asking for help after what seemed to be a targeted shooting early Monday morning on a Beaufort County home with 10 people and a 6-month-old infant inside. No injuries were reported.
Police responded shortly after midnight Monday to find the Seabrook-area home had been struck multiple times by gunfire. The residence is on Fawnwood Lane, located off U.S. 21 (Trask Parkway) and across the highway from Whale Branch Middle School.
The home’s 11 occupants included eight children ranging from 6 months to 16 years old, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators had not identified the gunman as of Tuesday and had not specified whether the incident was believed to be a drive-by shooting.
Monday morning’s shooting happened steps away from the scene of a homicide this June, when an 18-year-old was shot to death during a gathering at a community center on Seabrook Center Road.
Deputies had not yet made any arrests in the homicide case. It was not believed to be connected to the Fawnwood Lane incident, according to Staff Sgt. Robert Herlong of the BCSO.
