Investigation ongoing following early morning Sea Pines house fire

A structure fire early Thursday caused “extensive damage” to a home in Hilton Head’s Sea Pines community, near South Beach Lane, Hilton Head Island Fire Rescue reported.

At 4:32 a.m.. the Hilton Head Island Fire Rescue’s 911 Center first received a report of the fire. The first unit arrived on scene seven minutes later to find heavy fire in the attic of the home. Seven units responded to the scene, including four engines, one medic, the truck company and the Battalion Chief.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control by 6:50 a.m., and it was fully extinguished by 8:33 a.m.

All three residents evacuated safely before the fire crews arrived, and no injuries were reported. The residence was not a rental property.

As of 12:30 p.m. Thursday, units were still investigating to try and determine the cause of the fire, said the Fire Rescue’s spokesperson, Kenzie Hrobar.
