Husband, wife from Jasper Co. killed in apparent murder-suicide, police say

A husband and wife from Jasper County were killed Tuesday night in an apparent murder-suicide that began with a domestic dispute, according to police.

Apolinar Gonzalez-Sanchez, 55, and Christine Gonzalez, 46, both of the Levy unincorporated community, were pronounced dead from gunshot wounds Tuesday night at their home on McDowell Circle.

Police were called to the home regarding a domestic dispute around 7:20 p.m. Tuesday. Jasper County investigators believe Gonzalez-Sanchez shot his wife “before turning the firearm on himself.”

Levy is situated along S.C. 315 about 5 miles south of Hardeeville. Public records show the couple had lived and owned property on McDowell Circle since 2006.

The deaths remained under investigation by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office and Coroner’s Office.

Deputies with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office responded to an apparent murder-suicide in the unincorporated Levy community the evening of April 29, 2025.
