Local investigators are seeking more information connected to two separate shootings that took place overnight on St. Helena Island. The first round of shots hospitalized one man.

Around 7:30 p.m. Monday, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of shots fired on Saxonville Road on the island.

When deputies arrived on scene, they discovered a home had been shot at “multiple times” from the road, and that a 32-year-old male victim who was inside of the home at the time the shots were fired had suffered a non-life-threatening gun shot wound.

He was treated at an area hospital and has since been released, according to a notice from the law enforcement agency.

Six hours later at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, the department receive another report of shots fired, this time on Martin and Phoebe Way, a road off Luther Warren Drive. Again, deputies found a home had been shot at from the road. Another home on Luther Warren Drive also received damage from gunfire.

There were no injuries reported in this early-morning shooting, according to BSCO.

When asked about whether the shootings could be connected, Master Sgt. Danny Allen of the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office said that it was still too early to tell, and that the separate shootings are still under investigation.

The department encourages that anyone with information about either shooting call Staff Sergeant Tunis at 843-255-3426.
