Bluffton man arrested after fatal Hilton Head Island shooting Saturday, victim identified

A Bluffton man was arrested Saturday morning in connection with a shooting that took place that killed another man earlier that day on Hilton Head Island.

Charles Barron, 25, was arrested by Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office after they responded to reports of a shooting at Fiddlers Cove just before 2:30 a.m., according to a county sheriff Nixle alert. Deputies arrived to find 25-year-old Cory McKie, Jr. of Bluffton dead from a gunshot wound.



Barron was taken into custody and charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He is being held at the Beaufort County Detention Center.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
