Bluffton motorcycle crash kills 23-year-old on busy highway S.C. 170

Noah Smith, 23, of Hardeeville, died Tuesday morning when his motorcycle collided with an SUV on S.C. 170 at the intersection of Lawton Blvd., near Lawton Station, around 7:15 a.m.

He was pronounced dead on the scene from severe injuries. He was traveling north on the busy highway before the collision. Smith’s autopsy ruled his cause of death as blunt force trauma, according to Beaufort County Coroner David Ott

The driver and passenger of the SUV did not sustain any injuries.

All lanes of 170 were closed to traffic while the investigation was ongoing.

The Bluffton Police Department’s accident reconstruction team continues to investigate the collision to determine the cause of the collision and any contributing factors, according to Eydie Moody, spokesperson for the department.
