Update: Coroner identifies man who died in Monday morning Hilton Head hit-and-run

Jason Flack, 45, of Bluffton, died early Monday morning in a hit-and-run on Hilton Head Island.

At some time before 7:00 a.m., Flack was crossing Gumtree Road, at the traffic circle, when an unidentified vehicle traveling east struck him. Flack died from injuries sustained in the collision, according to Lance Cpl. Nick Pye of the South Carolina Highway Patrol. Highway patrol is investigating the collision.

Flack’s autopsy has been scheduled for tomorrow, according to Deputy Coroner Shane Bowers with the Beaufort County Coroner’s Office.
