Georgia man dies on Beaufort Pet Smart roof Tuesday
A 52-year-old Peachtree City, Georgia man was found dead Tuesday, on top of the Pet Smart in Beaufort.
As first reported by the Island News, a maintenance worker found Bobby Ostrander, dead on the roof of the Pet Smart at Cross Creek Shopping Center, 322 Robert Smalls Parkway, according to Ross Vezin, spokesperson for the Beaufort / Port Royal Fire Department, who responded to the scene. The fire department responds to all medical calls in Beaufort and Port Royal.
Ostrander was working on the building’s HVAC at the time of his death. Beaufort County Coroner’s Office ruled it as a natural death, said Coroner David Ott. He died around 2:25 p.m. Tuesday and was found shortly after at around 3:30 p.m. when emergency services were called.
The Beaufort Police Department confirmed the Island News that they are investigating the death. A spokesperson for the department was not able to be reached by phone Friday morning for updates.
