The Beaufort County Coroner’s Office has identified Ridgeland resident Marc Garrity as the motorcyclist killed in last week’s four-vehicle crash in Bluffton.

Garrity, 54, was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:06 p.m. Aug. 6, immediately after the accident. His cause of death was blunt force trauma, according to Beaufort County Coroner David Ott. The man was not wearing a helmet.

No arrests had been made in connection to the fatal crash as of Monday afternoon, said Trooper Nick Pye, a spokesperson for the SC Highway Patrol. The incident is still under investigation.

Garrity’s death marked the fifth fatality on Bluffton roads and the 17th in Beaufort County since the beginning of 2023, according to data from the SC Department of Public Safety.
