A 16-year-old was injured after shots were fired from the road and into two homes on Archie Sumpter Road on Thursday evening, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Department.

Around 10:30 p.m., deputies reached a residence on Archie Sumpter Road after receiving a call of reported gunfire.

The teen was sitting on a couch when a bullet penetrated a wall of the home and struck him, a Friday afternoon alert said. He was taken to Beaufort Memorial Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released.

Two homes were damaged by the Thursday evening gunfire, the department said.

The shooting comes a day after a Hardeeville teen was shot and injured Wednesday night at the Hilton Head Gardens apartment complex, which is about an hour from Archie Sumpter Road.

Anyone with information about the Thursday evening shooting can call Lt. Calhoun at 843-255-3704. To remain anonymous and for a possible reward, call Crime Stoppers of the Lowcountry at 843-554-1111.
