Sams Point Road closed off Tuesday morning, police say; Public asked to avoid the area

Police have shut down about a half mile of Sam’s Point Road for a welfare check Tuesday morning, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.

Drivers are being asked to avoid the area from Tronie Lane and Mellow Breeze Lane. No deaths have taken place at the location according to Maj. Angela Viens, a spokesperson for the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.

When asked why the road was shut down, Viens said it was safer for the public.
