At least three people, including an 11-year-old and a 13-year-old, were injured after two separate shootings Friday night in northern Beaufort County, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.

The first shooting, which severely injured a 19-year-old from Beaufort, happened at a house on Delaney Circle in Seabrook around 11 p.m., according to Mag. Angela Viens, a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson. A party had been going on at the house and an argument broke out and resulted in at least one person shooting. A car’s windshield was also hit in the incident.

Viens did not know whether or not the 19-year-old was involved in the argument.

The teen was taken to Beaufort Memorial Hospital and then to the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston for treatment. There was no information Monday morning on whether the teen had been released from the hospital.

About 30 minutes later in the driveway of a home on Glaze Drive in Burton, about 14 minutes away, several children were shot at by someone in a passing car. The children ranged in age from 9 to 14 years old. A 13-year-old and an 11-year-old were hurt. The 11-year-old had one non-life-threatening gunshot wound and the 13-year-old was not shot but had superficial injuries either from a scrape or from broken glass, Viens said.

Both children were treated at Beaufort Memorial Hospital and have since been discharged. The home and several other cars in the area were hit in the drive-by shooting.

Viens would not say how many total shots had been fired in either incident. When asked whether the two shootings were believed to be related, Viens said deputies are investigating.

Anyone with information may call Sgt. Dustin Kline at 843-255-3430 or Crime Stoppers of the Lowcountry at 843-554-1111 to remain anonymous.
