Police searching for ‘armed and dangerous’ Hilton Head man after violent family dispute
Investigators are searching for a Hilton Head man considered to be “armed and dangerous” with multiple warrants for arrest, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.
Sharkee Mitchell, 32, is wanted for domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature, possession of weapon during a violent crime and possession of a firearm by a person convicted of a violent felony.
These charges stem from an incident on the night of April 19, when police say Mitchell threatened relatives with a gun and struck one relative in the face with his fist. The group was at a family member’s house on Southwood Park Drive, located near the Hilton Head Island Airport, when the alleged attack took place, sheriff’s office spokersperson Maj. Angela Viens said.
Police consider Mitchell “armed and dangerous” because of this alleged incident, Viens said. Under South Carolina law, domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature is a felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison.
