Bluffton woman identified as 2nd person fatally shot within 2 days in Beaufort County
No arrests had been made as of Tuesday morning in shootings that resulted in the death of a woman Monday in Bluffton and a man Sunday in Beaufort, according to police and the Beaufort County Coroner’s Office.
Shanelle Nimmons, 32, of Bluffton, died around 7:23 p.m. Monday at Memorial Health University Medical Center, according to Beaufort County Deputy Coroner Margaret Bowyer. An autopsy will be conducted later.
Her shooting death was the second in as many days in Beaufort County.
A Beaufort man, 21-year-old Daveion Reed, was shot Sunday night at the Cross Creek Apartment Homes, an apartment complex on Ambrose Run in Beaufort. Reed was later taken to Beaufort Memorial Hospital, where he died.
The shootings are not believed to be related.
Bluffton shooting
The Bluffton Police Department received at least two calls after 4:13 p.m. Monday and met Nimmons at the Enmarket gas station at 4372 Bluffton Parkway, said Sgt. Bonifacio Perez, a spokesperson with the Bluffton Police Department.
The shooting had previously happened five minutes away on Taylor Court, where Nimmons and others were speaking on the road near their cars. Perez would not say how many bullets were found at the scene or what sparked the shooting.
Nimmons was airlifted to the hospital in Savannah, said Beaufort County Coroner David Ott.
The shooting is being investigated by the Bluffton Police Department.
