Jasper County man charged Tuesday with sexually assaulting a minor in 2018, police say
A man accused of sexually assaulting a minor in Jasper County faces charges after the child reported the attack, according to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office.
Arturo Castillo, 45, of Jasper County, was charged Tuesday with second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor and has an ICE hold, jail records show.
The incident was reported on Oct. 29, 2022, by the minor, said Chief Deputy Jeff Crosby, a spokesperson for the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office. The minor told police the assault happened in 2018 in a rural area near Castillo’s home.
Castillo is not the child’s father, Crosby said.
Castillo was arrested by police Tuesday night at a home on Turning Leaf Lane. No other charges are expected, Crosby said.
Attorney information for Castillo was not immediately available Wednesday.
