Shooting at Ridgeland business sends one employee to hospital while another arrested

An argument between coworkers at a Ridgeland business Monday morning culminated in an shooting that left one employee with a gunshot wound, according to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office.

Jasper County deputies arrived around 9 a.m. Monday at the business located in Ridgeland’s industrial park on Cypress Ridge Drive. Police discovered one man had been shot with a small caliber handgun, said Chief Jeff Crosby, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office.

The gunshot victim was taken to the Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The man was shot in a dispute with another male employee, Crosby said. The alleged gunman, whose identity was not immediately released, was taken into custody by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office.

Crosby would not provide additional details about the incident, including the name of the business.
