Police are investigating after the body of an unidentified man was found Tuesday in the parking lot of a Hilton Head shopping center, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office alert.
Briener Daniel Puerta Gonzalez, 19, of Bogota, Colombia, was found with gunshot wounds around 1:30 a.m., according to Andrew McNeese with the Beaufort County Coroner’s Office and Maj. Puerta Gonzalez was found in the parking lot of the Northridge Placa on William Hilton Parkway, home to the Northridge Cinema 10, the largest movie theater on the island.
Police believe he may have been riding a bicycle. The time of the shooting has been estimated to be close to midnight Tuesday, Viens said.
