1 person injured after Tuesday night shooting at Beaufort County gas station, cops say
Police are looking for a man they believe is armed and dangerous after a shooting Tuesday night at a Beaufort County gas station left another man injured, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.
As of Wednesday afternoon, police had not located the man, identified as 23-year-old Alexander Xavier Smalls.
At 11:40 p.m. Tuesday, deputies were called to the Enmarket gas station on Trask Parkway after getting calls about shots being fired in the area. When they got there, they found a 20-year-old Sheldon man who had been shot. Emergency responders took the man to Beaufort Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released.
Police were able to identify the shooter as Smalls after going over security footage from the gas station convenience store. The man who was shot and Smalls allegedly know each other, police said in an alert. The shooting was not “ a random act of violence.”
Smalls is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached, police said in the alert.
