Beaufort man charged after fight leads to shooting Wednesday in Port Royal, cops say

A Beaufort man faces felony charges after a fight Wednesday morning at a Port Royal motel resulted in shots fired, according to a Port Royal Police Department press release.

Nelson Bones, 30, of Beaufort was charged Tuesday with discharging a firearm within town limits and pointing and presenting a firearm, jail records show.

Officers from the Port Royal Police Department and Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called out to the Super 8 Motel on Ribaut Road around 2 a.m. Wednesday, according to the press release. Police found spent shell casings in the area after detaining people they believed to have been involved in the fight. No injuries were reported.
