Pedestrian struck and killed by vehicle in Jasper County. Highway Patrol investigating

A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle in Jasper County Saturday, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The collision occurred at 4 a.m. on state Highway 46 near secondary Highway 304, in Hardeeville, the Highway Patrol said.

The driver of a Ford SUV was traveling west on Highway 46 when the vehicle struck the pedestrian, the Highway Patrol said.

The driver was not injured.

The name of the pedestrian who died was not released Saturday by the Jasper County coroner’s office.

Master Trooper Brian Lee said the collision remains under investigation.
