Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run Sunday in unincorporated Beaufort County, SCHP says
The S.C. Highway Patrol and the Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team are investigating a hit-and-run Sunday morning that killed a woman in Dale, S.C.
Alexandra Warner, 30, of Dale was killed in the crash, according to Beaufort County Deputy Coroner Debbie Youmans. Warner was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash took place around 4:10 a.m. on Porches Hill Road near Kinloch Road, according to Trooper Tyler Tidwell, a spokesperson for the SCHP. The car was heading east on Porches Hill Road when it hit the pedestrian and drove off.
An autopsy for Warner has been scheduled for Wednesday at the Medical University of South Carolina.
As of Monday, there was no information on the car involved and the investigation is ongoing, Tidwell said.
At least 11 people were killed on South Carolina roadways over the weekend, according to the latest available data from the S.C. Department of Public Safety. In 2022, eight people have been killed in crashes in Beaufort County and 11 have died in Jasper, the data showed.
