Human remains found in Beaufort Co. earlier this week identified as local 28 year old
Human remains found in northern Beaufort County earlier this week were identified as 28-year-old Michael Seloske, who had not been seen since November, according to Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office release.
Seloske’s remains were found Monday evening in a wooded area off Broad River Drive in Shell Point, which is the street he lived on.
Although officials found Seloske’s driver’s license in the clothing he had on at the time of his death, the coroner was not able to positively identify him at the scene, the release said. Because the body was in an “advanced stage of decomposition” the cause and manner of death were not apparent either.
An autopsy was performed on the body at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston but forensic pathologists were still unable to determine the cause and manner of death. Results of toxicology tests are still pending.
People who knew Seloske told deputies they had not seen him since he left his home in November. He had not been reported missing though, the release said.
The Sheriff’s Office said there is no evidence to suggest foul play in Seloske’s death “at this point in the investigation.”
