Three people killed in St. Helena Island shooting Wednesday identified, police say
Three people were killed in a shooting Wednesday morning on St. Helena Island, officials say.
Robin Saunders, 55, and Kalila Saunders, 22, both of St. Helena, were killed in the shooting at a home along with Jaquan Sanders, 24, of Seabrook, a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office alert said.
The Beaufort County Coroner’s Office released their identities Wednesday night.
The Sheriff’s Office responded to Eddings Point Road around 11:30 a.m. after receiving a call about gunshot victims, an initial alert said. Two people were pronounced dead at the scene and one was transported to Beaufort Memorial Hospital, where they later died, a secondary alert said.
Police found a suspected shooter at the scene.
Police have not identified the suspect but said there is no public safety threat.
The 200 and 400 blocks of Eddings Point Road were shut down during the investigation.
Forensic autopsies for the three have been scheduled for Feb. 2, at the Medical University of South Carolina.
