Man police say ran from them during traffic stop is found on Lemon Island

Beaufort County Sheriff’s deputies and a K-9 unit found the man they say ran during a traffic stop on Lemon Island early Tuesday afternoon, according to a sheriff’s office alert.

The man was stopped on S.C. 170 and Lemon Island shortly after noon, the alert said. At some point during the stop, the man ran away from police, the sheriff’s alert said.

Police found the man around 12:55 p.m., according to Maj. Bromage from the Sheriff’s Office. Police are investigating why he ran. Bromage said the man will face criminal charges that include fleeing to evade arrest.

Drivers can expect to see police in the area.
