Tree collapses on a Burton mobile home, displaces family after Monday’s wind storm

A family had to climb out of a window to get out of their home after a tree fell on it Monday and blocked both the front and back doors, the Burton Fire District said.

Firefighters responded to the Majestic Mobile Home Park after a call about 7 a.m. about a tree on a house. When they arrived at the home on Alexandra Loop, they saw the uprooted tree, which had caused structural damage to the home.

Capt. Dan Byrne said he wasn’t sure how many people were displaced from the home but he believed they were staying with friends or family. The American Red Cross is assisting the family of six by getting them food, housing and other basic needs.

The Burton Fire District responded to four other storm-related calls Monday, including a driver on Trask Parkway who suffered minor injuries after hitting a low-hanging electrical wire. The district also reported trees and wires down on Detour Road in Seabrook and fallen wires on Burton Wells Road.
