Man thought by deputies to be armed near Burnt Church Road area found Wednesday night

The man who deputies were searching for after they say he ran from them was found following a tip from a resident, according to an alert from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were serving a court order at 4:15 p.m. on Lake Linden Drive when the man ran away, according to the alert. The man allegedly had a knife when he ran away, police said.

The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, the Sheriff’s Office’s K-9 unit and a helicopter searched for the man.

As of 6:10 p.m., the search had ended, according to Maj. Bob Bromage from the Sheriff’s Office.

After receiving a call from a resident at 8:20 p.m., Bromage said, police found the man near Burnt Church Road. Per the orders of a Probate Court judge, the man was taken to a medical facility for evaluation.
