Firefighters responded to the crash around 8:30 p.m. Friday between the Enmark gas station and the Highway 21 Drive-in, the press release said. An SUV and a “passenger vehicle” collided, according to the press release, and the driver of the passenger car, a woman, was trapped.
It took firefighters 27 minutes to rescue her and she was later transported to Beaufort Memorial Hospital for treatment. The woman had “critical injuries,” the press release said.
The driver and passengers in the SUV, a woman and her children, were treated by the Marine Corps Air Station Fire Department with non-life-threatening injuries, the press release said. Traffic on Trask Parkway was delayed for an hour while emergency responders worked the scene.
