One killed in two-vehicle crash on a U.S. Highway 278. Here’s what happened
The driver of one vehicle was killed in a two-vehicle crash on westbound U.S. Highway 278 in Bluffton late Friday evening, according to Bluffton police.
A car rear-ended a box truck about 10:15 p.m. at Buck Island Road, Lt. Christian Gonzales of the Bluffton Police Department said.
One of the drivers, whose name was not released, died in the crash, Gonzales said. Saying Saturday that the crash still was under investigation, police did not release details, including which driver was killed or the condition of the second driver.
Capt. Randy Hunter of Bluffton Township Fire District said westbound lanes of Highway 278 were closed between Simmonsville Road and Buck Island Road for two hours.
