Robber held Sun City resident at gunpoint, forced her to get money from bank, police say

The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a woman reported she was abducted and robbed at gunpoint Tuesday morning in Sun City.

The woman said a man entered her home on Argent Way around 9 a.m. with a handgun and demanded money, according to an alert from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office. The man forced the woman to drive him to a local bank after she said she didn’t have any money in the house, police said in the alert. The woman drove them back to her house and the man, described by police as Hispanic and in his 50s or 60s, ran away toward the Lake Somerset Gate near S.C. 170.

The man was wearing a blue face mask, dark clothing and a “black knit cap,” according to the alert. The woman was not injured.

Anyone who sees a man matching this description may call 911, Maj. Bob Bromage with the Sheriff’s Office said.
