The Port Royal Police Department is investigating a shooting that injured two Saturday morning at an apartment complex on Ribaut Road.
Officers responded to multiple calls of shots fired at Sea Island Apartments around 1:38 a.m. Saturday, according to a report from the Port Royal Police Department. A man, 20, was shot in the hip, and a 35-year-old man who was not attending the party was shot in the shoulder, Capt. Griffith from the Port Royal Police Department said in a statement Wednesday.
The shooting took place after an altercation at a “large party in the courtyard near the #7 building where a large group had scattered,” the statement said. The group left before the police arrived.
A stray bullet went through the wall of an apartment, through furniture and hit the 35-year-old man in the shoulder, Griffith said. The man was transported to Beaufort Memorial Hospital. In addition, the 20-year-old was taken to the hospital by a civilian, Griffith said.

Residents on Nextdoor, the neighborhood social app, said they heard four to six shots around 1:30 a.m. during an “out of control” party at the apartment. One resident said they counted at least 12 shots.
As of Wednesday, there have been no arrests. A “person of interest” was identified, and police are looking for them to bring them in for questioning, Griffith said.
