Police investigating Sunday morning shooting at Burton home that left one man injured
One man was injured in a shooting early Sunday at a home in Burton, according to police.
Deputies responded to a home on Parker Drive after a man was shot in the arm just before 1 a.m. Sunday, according to a police report from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office. The man had friends over “to socialize,” police said in the report, when an argument broke out between his friend and the friend’s ex-girlfriend over a social media post.
The friend left and “caused a disturbance in the road” when he returned, police said in the report. When the man confronted his friend and told him to leave, the report said, the two argued, and the man was shot.
The friend drove away, according to the report. The man went back to his house, where his wife called 911, police said in the report.
The shooting is under investigation, according to Maj. Bob Bromage with the Sheriff’s Office. No charges have been filed as of Monday afternoon. A “person of interest” has been identified and located, Bromage said.
