48-year-old Florida woman dies after crashing into tree off SC 170

A 48-year-old Florida woman died Wednesday night after the car she was driving ran off the road and hit a tree on S.C. 170, according to authorities.

Sidney Lorenzo Flaggs, 48, of Jacksonville, died from injuries sustained in the crash, according to the Beaufort County Coroner’s Office.

The crash happened around 11 p.m., as Flaggs drove west on S.C. 170 near Okatie Center Boulevard. Her car “went off the roadway right and struck a tree,” S.C. Highway Patrol Master Trooper David Jones said in a Thursday release.

Jones said she was not wearing a seat belt. Flaggs was declared dead at the scene, he said.

The crash is under investigation by SCHP, according to Jones.
