The injuries were non-life-threatening, said Hunter.

Southern said one of the cars, a blue sedan, was traveling east on S.C. 170 toward Beaufort. The driver attempted to turn left onto Okatie Center Boulevard when the car was struck by a white SUV going west.

The cause of the crash is under investigation by S.C. Highway Patrol.

Units with Bluffton Township Fire District, Beaufort County EMS, Bluffton Police Department, Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, and S.C. Highway Patrol all responded to the crash, according to Hunter.

Hunter said officials clearing the scene had to block off one lane of traffic on the Okatie Highway during morning rush hour.
