Lady’s Island man, 43, sought on kidnapping, domestic violence, weapon charges
UPDATE: Israel Baysden, 43, of Lady’s Island was found dead on Saturday morning, according to authorities.
A friend of Baysden’s found his body at a campsite on North Williman Island, which is is north of St. Helena Island, according to Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Maj. Bob Bromage.
The Sheriff’s Office was notified at around 8:30 a.m. Saturday. Baysden’s autopsy is pending, he said.
A Lady’s Island man who is believed to be armed and faces charges of kidnapping and domestic violence remained at large Thursday.
Israel Baysden, 43, faces one count of kidnapping, one count of domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature, and one count of possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, according to Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Maj. Bob Bromage.
Sheriff deputies cleared Ashley Drive on Lady’s Island between Miller and Woodbine drives on Thursday to serve a search warrant at the residence where the incident allegedly occurred, Bromage said. The incident happened Wednesday night and into Thursday morning and involved a female victim, he said.
He said Baysden was armed with a handgun at the time.
Baysden is believed to be on foot, according to Bromage, and was last seen in the Beaufort area.
