Ridgeland man accused of exposing himself to guard while in jail on stalking charge
A Ridgeland man is accused of exposing himself to a female guard while he was jailed on charges of stalking another woman, according to police.
Dexter Gray, 44, of Ridgeland faces two counts of indecent exposure, one count of stalking, and one count of public disorderly conduct, according to Jasper County Detention Center records.
While in detention on Friday, police say Gray “did continuously make obscene, vulgar and sexually explicit remarks” to a female jail official, according to an arrest warrant.
Gray was first arrested by the Ridgeland Police Department early Friday on a disorderly conduct. He was allegedly intoxicated at a Waffle House in Ridgeland, according to a crime report.
After arriving at the detention center, the Hardeeville Police Department charged Gray with one count of stalking and one count of indecent exposure based on incidents in the past year, according to an arrest warrant.
Police accuse Gray of stalking a woman in Hardeeville and “calling her from a blocked phone number a total of 263 times,” the warrant says.
It says Gray went to her place of business and exposed himself, “placing the victim in fear of being sexually assaulted or physically harmed.”
Both indecent exposure charges are misdemeanors while stalking is a felony and could bring up to five years in prison upon conviction, according to S.C. law.
Gray’s bond was set at $155,257 in total, and he was released on bond later Friday, according to the Detention Center.
