A suspect was in custody Wednesday afternoon after he allegedly shot at a vehicle with a baby inside on Grahamville Road near Ridgeland, according to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office.

Three adults were also inside the vehicle, and none of them were injured, police said.

“This is believed to be a longstanding feud between two families,” Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Det. Sgt. Jake Higgins said. “We’re in the preliminary stages of the investigation.”

Hours after the shooting, Albert Heyward was arrested and charged with four counts of attempted murder and one count of possessing a weapon during a violent crime.
