Hardeeville teenage suspect sought as police investigate 2 Beaufort Co. shootings
Three men were wounded in two separate shootings that happened within a day of each other on St. Helena Island, according to multiple Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office news releases.
A 19-year-old allegedly shot two men around 7:45 p.m. Thursday night at the Wallace Creek Boat Landing. One of the men was treated and released from Beaufort Memorial Hospital. The second was taken to the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, where he was in “critical but stable condition” as of Friday, one of the releases said.
Evidence and interviews determined Jeremy Toomer, of Hardeeville, shot the men and left the scene before deputies arrived, the release said.
Deputies are still searching for Toomer who is wanted on two counts of attempted murder and one count of possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
In a separate shooting, deputies responded to the Tiger Express on Sea Island Parkway late Friday and found a man with a gunshot wound. He was transported to Beaufort Memorial Hospital for treatment. A male suspect left the scene of the shooting in a vehicle before deputies arrived, a release said.
Anyone with information on either shooting or Toomer’s whereabouts can contact Sheriff’s Office non-emergency dispatch at 843-524-2777 or Crimestoppers of the Lowcountry at 843-554-1111, if wishing to stay anonymous.
