Two men were killed in a fiery crash in Ridgeland on Saturday night, police say

Two men were killed in a fiery crash on Henry Lawton Road in Ridgeland about 9 p.m. Saturday, according to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office.

Cylde Heyward and Earl Lawrence, both of Ridgeland, died in the crash, Det. Sgt. Jake Higgins said Sunday. Heyward, who was in his 60s, and Lawrence, who was in his 40s, were related to each other, Higgins said.

Higgins did not have any other details about the crash.

“Deputies responded to a single vehicle in a ditch, and the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames,” he said.

The two men were discovered in the vehicle after the fire was extinguished.

“Pray for our community and families involved,” Sheriff Chris Malphrus said in a Facebook Post Saturday night.

Higgins said the investigation has been turned over to the S.C. Law Enforcement Division’s investigative team.
