Man dies after being stabbed by teenager during fight in Burton home, police say

A 36-year-old man has died after he was stabbed by a teenager following a fight in a Burton home, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.

Just before 12:30 a.m. Monday, Jemel Brown got into a domestic argument with a woman in the Harold Drive home.

The fight led to a physical altercation between Brown and a teenager, who stabbed him with a knife, the news release from the Sheriff’s Office said.

All three of the people involved were cooperative with Sheriff’s deputies when they arrived on-scene, the release said.

Brown was transported to Beaufort Memorial Hospital and later to the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, where he died during surgery, according to the release.

As of Monday, no one has been charged, and the case remains under investigation.
