A suspect was arrested in connection with several Jasper County burglaries, according to a news release from the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office.

Akeem Benson, 28, faces multiple charges including three counts of first-degree burglary; two counts of theft from a motor vehicle; two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon; and one count each of possession of a stolen firearm, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, grand larceny, larceny and trespassing.

Benson was arrested around 11 a.m. Wednesday at a residence in the 200 block of Pecan Grove, the news release said.

Detectives noticed items in the residence that matched the descriptions from reported burglaries in the Rice Shire area, according to the release, which added that many items have been returned to their owners.

On Monday morning, Benson was being held at the Jasper County Detention Center on bond of $276,092.

The case remains under investigation, the Sheriff’s Office says.
